History
McLean County Area EMS System (MCAEMS) was established in 1999 as a collaboration between Carle BroMenn Medical Center and OSF St. Joseph Medical Center. Located in Bloomington-Normal, this unique approach to EMS demonstrates unparalleled collaboration. The EMS System represents 48 EMS Agencies and over 900 providers.. In total the EMS agencies provide coverage for over 2,000 sq/miles. This includes a mix of public, private, fire-based, third-service, industrial, university and dispatch agencies.
MCAEMS partnered with Heartland Community College in leading Emergency Medical Services classes, including a CoAEMSP accredited paramedic program. This private-public partnership has allowed for the establishment of one of the leading paramedic programs in the State of Illinois.
